SMAT 2025-26: Sai Sudharsan added to Tamil Nadu squad
The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) announced on Wednesday that the State Senior Selection Committee has included Team India batter Sai Sudharsan in the senior squad to participate in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) T20 matches being held at Ahmedabad.
Sudharsan recently played in India’s Test defeat in Guwahati, which culminated in a 0-2 series loss to South Africa. He had middling scores of 15 and 14 as India went down by a mammoth 408 runs.
The 24-year-old’s inclusion will be a much-needed boost for Tamil Nadu, which got off to its SMAT campaign with a six-wicket loss to Rajasthan on Wednesday.
Sudharsan will feel at home in Ahmedabad, where he has been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Gujarat Titans.
He has found success as an opener in the franchise, where he won the Orange Cap for leading run-scorer in the 2025 season with 759 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 156.17.
