DC vs MI IPL 2026: Sameer Rizvi’s classy 90 helps Delhi Capitals go two from two

Sameer Rizvi played a match-winning knock for Delhi Capitals once again as his 51-ball 90 helped his side chase down 161 against Mumbai Indians on Saturday to post its second consecutive victory of the season.

Rizvi smashed seven fours and seven sixes in his innings to help Delhi Capitals secure a comfortable victory. With the win, DC extended its superior head-to-head record against Mumbai Indians in afternoon fixtures to 10 wins from 15.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Suryakumar Yadav, standing in today for Hardik Pandya, who missed out due to illness, named three changes in his side – Deepak Chahar for Pandya, Mitchell Santner came in for AM Ghazanfar, and Corbin Bosch replaced Trent Boult.

After successfully chasing down 226 against KKR, MI unfortunately couldn’t replicate the same batting form as its batters struggled on a pitch that Rohit Sharma described as being on the ‘slower side’. DC’s bowlers once again did a fine job with the ball, with Mukesh Kumar removing Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma in the same over within the PowerPlay.

Suryakumar’s half-century was the only silver lining in MI’s batting as it was restricted to 162/6 in 20 overs. Chasing the target, the Capitals got off to a poor start, losing KL Rahul and Nitish Rana in quick succession to find itself 13/2 after three overs.

But Pathum Nissanka (44 off 30 balls) and Rizvi consolidated for the Capitals, and with no pressure of having to chase down a big total, took their time to rebuild the innings before taking the attack to the opposition bowlers. In the end, while Rizvi couldn’t finish things off for his side, the damage was already done. The South African pair of Tristan Stubbs and David Miller took the Capitals home with two overs to spare.
