Yashasvi Jaiswal makes himself available for Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy fixture
India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association that he will be available for Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy fixture against Rajasthan.
Following the BCCI’s directive that all contracted players must feature in domestic tournaments when not on national duty, Jaiswal will join the team in Jaipur for the game beginning November 1. The Mumbai squad is expected to reach the city on October 30.
Ahead of the season, Jaiswal had initially decided to move from Mumbai to Goa before changing his mind and asking the MCA to withdraw the No Objection Certificate. However, due to international commitments, he has not played any domestic cricket so far this season.
His last appearance for Mumbai came in January during a group-stage fixture against Jammu and Kashmir, which also featured Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer.
Jaiswal’s gesture
In another development, Jaiswal has informed the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) that he will sponsor the Best Player awards for the finals of the Harris and Giles Shield tournaments — two of Mumbai’s most prestigious school-level competitions. “He has informed the MSSA that he would like to support the cause by sponsoring those three awards – as he would like to give it back to Mumbai cricket. We welcome his move,” an MSSA official said.
