Wrexham 1-1 Birmingham: Championship report, result, goals

Patrick Roberts’ composed strike 20 seconds after half-time kept Birmingham City above Wrexham in the Championship with a draw at StoK Cae Ras.

On-loan Sunderland winger Roberts collected Jay Stansfield’s pass inside the box and sent a diagonal finish under goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo as the Blues rose to 11th.

Wrexham, who are unbeaten in five games in all competitions, took the lead against the former Premier League side when Max Cleworth’s header from a corner was glanced in by George Dobson in the 13th minute.

Lewis O’Brien had a presentable chance to double the hosts’ advantage shortly afterwards when Marc Leonard gave the ball away, only to shoot straight at goalkeeper James Beadle.

Both sides are next in action on October 18, when Wrexham visit Stoke City and Birmingham host Hull City.
