WPL Auction 2026: Laura Wolvaardt goes to Delhi Capitals for Rs. 1.10 crore

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt was signed for Rs. 1.10 crore to Delhi Capitals at the WPL 2026 Auction in New Delhi on Thursday.

There was a bidding war between the Capitals and former champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but the former prevailed in the contest.

Wolvaardt had spent the last two WPL seasons with Gujarat Giants. In the tournament, she’s played 13 matches and scored 342 runs.

The Proteas skipper entered the mega auction on the back of a historic Women’s ODI World Cup campaign, where she led her side to the final where it lost to host India.

Moreover, she finished the 2025 edition as the highest run-scorer with 571 runs in nine matches, thereby breaking the record for most runs scored in a single edition.
