Will try to make IPL the No. 1 sports league in the world: Arun Dhumal


Arun Dhumal, who continued as the chairman of the Indian Premier League, made it clear that over the next few years, his team would try to make the tournament the No. 1 sports league in the world.

On Sunday, he was elected unopposed as the chairman of the franchise league, while Khairul Jamal Majumdar will be the other member of the Governing Council.

“Over the last 18 years, the IPL has faced many challenges, including COVID. But with the wonderful team that we have, we have come through all those challenges, and going forward, we will make this the No.1 sports league in the world,” Dhumal said.

Meanwhile, Kerala Cricket Association president Jayesh George has been elected as the Women’s Premier League (WPL) chairman. The other members of the committee are Mithun Manhas, Rajeev Shukla, Devajit Saikia, Prabhtej Bhatia, A Raghuram Bhat, Madhumati Lele, Sanjay Tandon, R. I. Palani, and Dhumal.

The infrastructure committee will be headed by Rohan Jaitley.

More domestic matches to be aired live

With Apollo Tyres coming in as the new sponsor, the BCCI plans to air live as many domestic matches as possible. The decision was taken during the AGM, after the Board drew flak for not broadcasting the initial matches of the Duleep Trophy.
