Why India vs Australia first T20I in Canberra was reduced to 18 overs a side

The first India–Australia T20I in Canberra has been reduced to 18 overs a side following a rain delay.

As per the revised conditions, the PowerPlay will last for 5.2 overs, meaning India will have two more balls with fielding restrictions in place when play restarts. In the adjusted bowling quotas, three bowlers can bowl a maximum of four overs each, while two bowlers can deliver up to three overs.

Former Australia skipper Aaron Finch also alluded to the floodlight curfew as a factor, noting that the lights at the venue must be switched off automatically by 11.00 p.m. local time due to its residential surroundings — leaving a narrow window for play to finish on time.
