Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes record-breaking 78-ball century in Youth Test against Australia-19

Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a record 78-ball century during the second day of the first Youth Test between India Under-19 and Australia Under-19 at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane on Wednesday.

Suryavanshi’s rapid ton is now the fastest on Australian soil in Youth Tests, breaking Australian Liam Blackford’s record hit a ton in 124 balls against England U19 in January 2023.

The 14-year-old finished with 113 off 86 balls — in innings which included nine fours and eight sixes.

The youngster has also become the second player after Brendon McCullum to score two Youth Test centuries under 100 balls.

Last year, Suryavanshi scored the second-fastest hundred in Men’s Youth Tests against Australia U-19 in Chennai. He had reached the three-figure mark off just 56 balls to sit behind only Moeen Ali of England, who had smashed 56-ball ton back in 2005.
