Vaibhav Suryavanshi becomes youngest player to score century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored his maiden century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy during the group-stage match between Bihar and Maharashtra, taking place in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old also became the youngest to score a ton in SMAT history, taking 58 balls to do so, smashing seven fours and as many sixes.

He already holds the record of the youngest T20 centurion, having smashed a 35-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.

Suryavanshi, who faced a brief run-drought with low scores of 14, 13 and 5 in the last few games, had earlier notched his first fifty of the tournament off 34 balls.

The left-handed batter remained unbeaten on 108 off 61 deliveries, helping Bihar post a total of 176 for three in 20 overs.
