Vaibhav Suryavanshi: A dream to score a hundred in the IPL

Rajasthan Royals’ teenage batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi described his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) hundred on Monday as a dream come true.

The 14-year-old made a stunning impact, smashing a 35-ball century — the second-fastest in IPL history — in just his third game. His blistering 38-ball 101 powered the Royals to a dominant eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans while chasing a daunting 210-run target.

“It is like a dream, to score a century in the IPL,” Suryavanshi said during the post-match presentation.

Reflecting on his preparation, he added, “It feels really good. It was my first century in the IPL in my third innings. The results are showing for what I have been practising for the last three-four months. I don’t see the ground so much, just focus on the ball.”

Opening the innings, Suryavanshi stitched a massive 166-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal inside just 12 overs, setting the platform for an easy chase completed in 15.5 overs.

“Batting with him [Jaiswal] gives me confidence because he keeps very positive and gives me advice, so it becomes easy to bat with him,” Suryavanshi said.
