U-19 World Cup: Bangladesh finishes campaign with a 74-run win over Zimbabwe
Bangladesh bowed out of the Under-19 World Cup with a comfortable 74-run win over co-host Zimbabwe in the Super Six fixture Harare on Saturday.
Zimbabwe was bowled out for 179 in a 253-run chase thanks to Iqbal Hossain Emon finishing with incredible figures of five for 24 in his 10 overs quota.
Simbarashe Mudzengerere fought hard with his 121-ball 70 while number 10 Shelton Mazvitorera remained unbeaten on 42 but the efforts weren’t enough for Zimbabwe to close the game.
For Bangladesh, captain Md Azizul Hakim Tamim set the tone with his 59 off 87 balls. He got good support from Md Rizan Hossan’s 47. Al Fahad gave the final boost to the total with his unbeaten 23 off 13 deliveries.
Both teams were already out of the competition—the match had no bearing on the semifinal spot.
India and Pakistan will play the final Super Six fixture on Sunday with an eye on the last top four place.
