T20 World Cup 2026 — Super Eight qualification scenarios: Which teams have qualified and who are others in contention?

South Africa and England on Monday secured their places in the Super Eight round, joining India and West Indies in the second round of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Here is how the Points Table stands.

As teams prepare for their final round of group games, here is how the qualification race for Super Eight stands:

Group A

India is the only team from this group to have assured itself of qualification after winning its opening three games, the latest being the massive 61-run victory over Pakistan on Sunday.

Pakistan is still the favourite to make the Super Eight from this group. It faces Namibia in its final game and a win take the side through. However, if it loses, USA, which has two wins, will advance by virtue of a superior Net Run Rate (NRR).

Group B

All eyes are on Australia in Group B, which lost to Zimbabwe last week. The result means that three teams in this group — Australia, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe — can end with six points.

Australia faces Sri Lanka on Monday, and if it loses it will be on the verge of an exit. In this case, it would need to beat Oman and hope Zimbabwe loses its remaining games, against Sri Lanka and Ireland. The Aussies will also a better NRR than the African side. Further, Australia would also need superior NRR to Ireland, which could also end up with four points.

Co-host Sri Lanka also needs to win both its games, against Australia and Zimbabwe, to avoid any late twists. Ireland too is still in the race mathematically but needs multiple other results to go its way.

Group C

England defeated Italy by 24 runs on Monday to pick its third win of the tournament and qualify for the Super Eight round. West Indies was already through with three wins from three games.

Group D

South Africa qualified for the Super Eight after Afghanistan beat UAE on Monday. New Zealand will join the Proteas if it wins its last group match against Canada.

In the unlikely scenario of a Canada win, Afghanistan will have a shot at going through with a massive victory against Canada.
