Sri Lanka squad for T20 World Cup 2026 — Dasun Shanaka named captain; full list of players


Sri Lanka announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with Dasun Shanaka continuing as captain for the showpiece event.

The squad features a strong core, which includes the likes of Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka.

The co-host can also bank on a host of all-round options, with Wanindu Hasaranga, Kamindu Mendis and Dunith Wellalage in the ranks.

Sri Lanka’s pace unit will be led by Dushmantha Chameera and Matheesha Pathirana, while mystery bowler Maheesh Theekshana spearheads the spin department.

Sri Lanka has been drawn with Australia, Oman, Ireland and Zimbabwe in Group B in the World Cup, and will open its campaign against Ireland at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.
