SRH vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Batters fire on all cylinders to help Sunrisers Hyderabad go top of the table

An all round batting performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad helped the home side defeat Punjab Kings by X at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, May 6.

Batting first, SRH posted a mammoth 235/4 from its 20 overs on the board, thanks to an opening blitz from Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head and half centuries from Heinrich Klaasen (69 off 43 balls) and Ishan Kishan (55 off 32 balls).

Punjab Kings were poor on the field not just with the bowling, but with the fielding as well. Ishan Kishan was dropped twice, while Heinrich Klaasen was dropped once.

Chasing 200 plus totals has been PBKS bread and butter this season but the visitor could not build any momentum in the chase, losing both openers early and captain Shreyas Iyer.

Cooper Connolly fought a lone battle (107 off 58 balls) but wickets kept falling at regular intervals from the other end.

The win propelled SRH to the top of the table, demoting PBKS to second. Today’s loss was the third loss on the trot for PBKS.
