SMAT 2025-26 Round 4 Wrap: Hardik Pandya back in action for Baroda; Suryavanshi slams century
Hardik Pandya stole the limelight in the fourth round of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26, hitting an unbeaten 77 off 44 balls to steer Baroda to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Punjab on Tuesday.
The all-rounder returned to cricket after a long injury hiatus, playing his first match since the Asia Cup final.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi also made an impact in this round, becoming the youngest century in this tournament’s history. His unbeaten 108 off 61 against Maharashtra, however, was not enough for Bihar, which succumbed to its fourth loss.
Prithvi Shaw hit 66 off 30 balls to star in Maharashtra’s chase of 177 runs. Elsewhere, Shardul Thakur picked five wickets in Mumbai’s massive 98-run over Assam.
Here is how Team India’s stars performed in the fourth round on Tuesday:
Abhishek Sharma
A centurion in the previous round, Abhishek added to his run haul with a 19-ball 50. However, Pandya’s knock later in the day that Punjab fell to its second loss.
Sanju Samson
The Kerala captain missed out in the fourth round. He could score just one run before getting nabbed by pacer Nachiket Bhute of Vidarbha. Kerala lost the contest by six wickets.
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav could score just 20 runs off 12 balls in Mumbai’s innings against Assam. Sarfaraz Khan was the highest score, managing an unbeaten 100 off 47 – his maiden T20 century.
B Sai Sudharsan
Sai Sudharsan’s inclusion in the Tamil Nadu lineup has done little to change the side’s fortunes. The southpaw scored eight runs off nine balls as TN suffered a humiliating 145-run reverse at the hands Karnataka. Devdutt Padikkal’s century (102 off 46) led Karnataka to 245 for three. Tamil Nadu was bundled out for 100 runs in the 15th over.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami’s lean run continued in this SMAT edition. He picked just one for 31 runs against Himachal Pradesh. He has just five wickets in four games and has conceded at an economy rate of 10.45.
Varun Chakaravarthy
Varun Chakaravarthy conceded 45 runs in four overs and could not pick a wicket as Tamil Nadu fell to its third defeat this season. The side is now last in Group D with just one win in four games.
