SMAT 2025-26 Round 3 Wrap: Belligerent Abhishek breaks records, Samson finds form for Kerala
Abhishek Sharma lit up the third round of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 with a jaw-dropping knock of 148 from 52 deliveries as Punjab racked up 310 for five against Bengal.
Ishan Kishan provided a reminder of his short-format abilities with an unbeaten 113 from 52 balls for Jharkhand against Tripura, while Rajat Patidar marked his return to the Madhya Pradesh side with a breezy 43 from 20 balls against Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Ayush Mhatre scored a second consecutive century for Mumbai against Andhra.

Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson struggled for touch in Kerala’s second-round match, but he was in fine form against Chandigarh as Kerala strolled to an eight-wicket victory. Opening the batting, Samson struck a blistering 15-ball 43 with two fours and five sixes.
Veteran pacer K.M. Asif did the business with the ball, taking three for 16 from three overs.
Suryakumar Yadav
India captain Suryakumar Yadav was content to play second fiddle to Ayush Mhatre’s belligerence again, scoring 31 from 21 balls as Mumbai cruised to victory by nine wickets against Andhra.
Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube had a quiet outing for Mumbai in the same game. The southpaw was not required with the bat in hand, and went for 21 runs from his two overs with the ball.
B Sai Sudharsan
B Sai Sudharsan had another unsuccessful outing with the bat for Tamil Nadu, managing just one run from three balls in its match against Uttarakhand.
R. Rajkumar scored a blistering 43-ball 93 in order to see Tamil Nadu home to its first victory of the tournament.
Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma played a crucial hand for Baroda in its five-wicket win over Himachal Pradesh. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed 41 from 19 balls with three fours and four sixes as Baroda sealed victory with 17 balls to spare.
Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh returned to form for Uttar Pradesh, albeit in a losing cause against Madhya Pradesh. The left-hander struck 65 from 42 balls with four boundaries and four sixes, but could not prevent his side from falling short by 37 runs.
Rajat Patidar marked his return to the Madhya Pradesh side with a breezy 20-ball 43, while Vipraj Nigam claimed the wickets of Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer for Uttar Pradesh.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami endured a tough day in the field for Bengal, finding himself on the receiving end of Abhishek Sharma and Punjab’s onslaught. The experienced seamer took the wicket of Sanvir Singh, but conceded 61 runs in his allocation of four overs.
Akash Deep suffered an equally difficult outing with the ball, conceding 55 runs for two wickets from his four overs.
Varun Chakravarthy
Varun Chakravarthy had an improved day with the ball against Uttarakhand, taking one for 28 from his allotment of four overs. The spinner removed Kunal Chandela for 47, and also effected the runout of Yuvraj Chaudhary for 74.
