Simon Harmer becomes highest wicket-taking South African spinner in Tests in India
Simon Harmer became South Africa’s most successful spinner in Tests in India during the first game of the ongoing two-match series against the host at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.
Right arm off spinner Harmer broke the record jointly held by Paul Adams and Imran Tahir (14 wickets) as he had Dhruv Jurel caught at deep midwicket by Corbin Bosch on the third day.
Playing only his third Test in India, Harmer add three more scalps to his name in the form of Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav as South Africa looked to defend a target of 124.
Harmer also picked four wickets in the first innings. The 36-year-old played two Tests in India in Mohali and Nagpur in 2015 where he bagged a total of 10 wickets.
