Ranji Trophy: Meghalaya’s Akash Kumar smashes fastest half-century in First-Class history

Meghalaya batter Akash Kumar smashed the fastest-ever First-Class fifty during his team’s Ranji Trophy Plate match against Arunachal Pradesh in Surat on Sunday.

The 25-year-old got to his 50 off just 11 deliveries, surpassing the previous record of Wayne White, who achieved this feat in 12 deliveries back in 2012 while playing for Leicestershire against Essex.

Akash remained unbeaten on 50 off 14 balls as Meghalaya declared its first innings at 628 for six. His short but impactful stay in the middle saw him smash eight sixes, including six consecutive maximums in an over.
