Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Karnataka batter R Smaran scores second double hundred of season
Karnataka batter R. Smaran on Monday scored a double hundred against Chandigarh in their Ranji Trophy fifth round match in Hubli.
The southpaw reached the mark in 343 balls with 16 fours and a maximum. This was Smaran’s second double ton this season. He had scored an unbeaten 220 against Kerala in the third round in Thiruvananthapuram.
Smaran also completed 1,000 runs in First-Class cricket during this innings.
The 22-year-old, playing only his 13th First-Class match, now has three double tons to his credit. He had notched up his maiden score of 200 or more last season against Punjab in Bengaluru.
He won a call-up to the South Zone side in the Duleep Trophy on the back of his successful start in Ranji Trophy, and scored a half century against Central Zone.
