Most runs in ODIs: Virat Kohli displaces Kumar Sangakkara to rise to second in list


India’s Virat Kohli became the second-highest run-getter in One-Day International cricket during his side’s third ODI against Australia on Saturday.

During the course of his knock against Australia, Kohli overtook Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara in the all-time list. Kohli now trails only Sachin Tendulkar, who has 18426 runs in 463 matches for the country.

Kohli’s ODI runs have come in just 305 matches at an average close to 58 and a strike rate of 93. The former India captain is the only batter with a 50+ average among the top ten batters with most ODI runs.

With his effort in Sydney, Kohli also broke Tendulkar’s record for most white-ball runs in international cricket.
