Manas Dhamne off to Round 2 in ATP 75 Brasov Challenger

The entire tennis fraternity and fans across the world are in complete shock as most of the top seeds are getting knocked out in Round 1 matches of the on-going Wimbledon Grand Slam. Taylor Fritz and Carlos Alcaraz were few of the top seeds who survived the scare.

As we await more incredible storylines from the grass season, let’s have a look at a couple of challenger tournaments going on, especially on the clay courts.

India’s 17-year-old tennis player, Manas Dhamne is currently playing in the ATP 75 BRD Brasov Challenger Tournament, happening in Romania.

Manas has won his first ATP Challenger main draw match by defeating Germany’s Christoph Negritu (ATP #282) with the final score of 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3)

In the first set, Christoph was up and rolling by breaking twice and won it with ease. In the second set, Manas was down with 1-3 but soon he gave a comeback and won the set by winning 3 games in a row. In the final set, Manas was again down with 1-4 and his opponent had 3 match points at one point, Manas held his nerves, saved them all and forced the final set to tie-breaks and guess what, the tables were turned and Manas won the match with a stellar performance in the tie-breaks.

This was his career’s best win by ranking wise of the opponent.

Up next, Manas will play the Frenchman and ATP #391, Tom Paris in Round 2. The match is scheduled to start at 2.40 pm IST (12 pm local time) on the 3rd of July 2025.
