IPL 2026: MI batting coach Kieron Pollard fined for using abusive language towards fourth umpire during win over PBKS
Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard has been fined 15 per cent of his applicable match fee and accumulated one demerit point for using abusive language towards the fourth umpire during his side’s six-wicket win over Punjab Kings in Dharamshala on Thursday.
Former West Indies all-rounder Pollard was found to have breached Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team officials. Specifically, he breached article 2.3 of the league’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “use of an audible obscenity during a match.”
The incident occurred in the penultimate over of the match when Pollard used abusive language towards the fourth umpire.

“Pollard admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by Match Referee, Pankaj Dharmani,” said the league in an official statement.
Despite the win, MI is placed ninth in the points table with eight points in 12 games. The five-time IPL champion is already out of the race to qualify for the playoffs.
In its last two matches of the season, MI will face Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on May 20 and Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on May 24.
