India vs England semifinal breaks record for most sixes in a T20 World Cup game
The T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal 2 between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday broke the record for the most sixes scored in a World Cup encounter.
The two sides served a batting masterclass to aggregate 499 runs on the day, with the home team edging out its opponent by just seven runs at the end.
Sanju Samson (89 off 42) and Jacob Bethell (105 off 48) led the six-hitting, launching seven shots over the ropes each. The encounter also broke the record for the most boundaries in a World Cup game (73 – 39 fours and 34 sixes), beating the record of 61 between England and South Africa in 2016.
