IND vs WI, 2nd Test: Shai Hope scores first Test hundred in eight years
West Indian batter Shai Hope scored his first Test hundred in over eight years, during his side’s second Test against India in New Delhi on Monday.
This is Hope’s third Test hundred, with the first two coming against England in the same match, in Leeds in 2017.
The 31-year-old’s effort came with West Indies following on against India. Hope put on a 177-run partnership for the third wicket with opener John Campbell, who too smashed a hundred.
This is the first time two West Indian batters have scored twin hundreds in a Test innings against India in 14 years. The concerted effort from Hope and Campbell helped West Indies avoid an innings defeat.
Hope was eventually dismissed for 103, after being bowled by Mohammed Siraj.
