IND vs SA: Eden Gardens’ 124 against South Africa is second lowest target India has failed to chase down in Tests
South Africa on Sunday beat India by 30 runs in under three days of the first of two Tests at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The low-scoring encounter saw India failing to chase 124 runs. This is now the second lowest target the side has failed to get past in Test cricket.
Historically, 120 is the lowest target that India has failed to achieve, when it was skittled out for 81 against the West Indies in 1997 in Bridgetown.

On Sunday, India folded for 93, with captain Shubman Gill never coming out to bat after being admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata with a neck spasm.
The victory, which also happened to be Temba Bavuma’s 10th win in 11 Tests as captain, was also the Proteas’ first win in India after 15 years.
