IND vs SA, 1st Test: Shubman Gill will not take further part in remaining match
India captain Shubman Gil was ruled out of the remainder of the first Test against South Africa after sustaining a neck injury during the second day’s play at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The right-handed batter walked off the field moments after his slog-sweep for four, appearing to feel discomfort in his neck.
Gill appeared to feel some pain immediately after the shot and was grimacing while holding the back of his neck. He looked restricted in his movements.
After a short check from the physio, he returned to the dressing room for further assessment.
