IND vs NZ 5th T20: Matt Henry says New Zealand will take ‘great lessons’ from India series ahead of T20 World Cup

Matt Henry’s first-ball dismissal of Abhishek Sharma paved the way for New Zealand’s much-needed victory in the last T20I at Visakhapatnam.

“He [Abhishek] has been playing brilliantly over the last two years and he has been taking to attacks, not just in international cricket but the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, so for us it is about putting him under pressure,” Henry said ahead of Saturday’s final T20I here. “The best way is to get wickets. You can get one or two and they will keep coming hard. That is what has been shown over the last week.”

Henry said T20 cricket was all about confidence. “It is about how you keep coming back and challenging batters when you are under pressure,” he said.

“You find a way to make it work. If you look at the series, there are great lessons to be learned. It is never nice being put under that kind of pressure, but we knew that the long-term picture was getting prepared for a World Cup.”

He said there were gains. “We are just really pleased that the guys could still stay confident going into that last game,” he said. “It is probably a true testament of character of the group that we have got in place.”
