IND-A vs AUS-A, 1st unofficial Test: India A, Australia A play out tame draw
The first unofficial Test between India A and Australia A petered out to a draw on the final day in Lucknow on Friday.
India A came one run short of its opponents’ first-innings total early in the second session before rain disrupted the proceedings.
After the break, Australia A openers Sam Konstas and Campbell Kellaway added 56 runs in 16 overs before the two teams shook hand on a draw.
Earlier, in the morning session, overnight batters Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel extended their partnership as they helped India A scale down the deficit.
Padikkal, who was patient in his approach, soon reached his seventh First-Class hundred, joining Jurel in the century column.
Jurel was the first of the two to be dismissed, after being caught off the bowling of seamer Fergus O’Neill, bringing an end to a 228-run partnership which rescued India-A from a tricky position.
Padikkal pushed on and soon got to his 150, before being dismissed by off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli.
The two teams will now square off in the second unofficial Test, which will start on September 23 at the same venue.
