Good toss to lose, says Prasidh after Karnataka bundles Mumbai out for 120 in Ranji Trophy quarterfinal

Mumbai’s decision to bat on a surface that offered extra bounce raised a few eyebrows, but Prasidh Krishna believes that it was a ‘good toss to lose’ for Karnataka.

With Vidyadhar Patil and Vidwath Kaverappa, who reached the 100 wicket milestone in First-class cricket, striking early, Mumbai was reduced to 39 for 3, before Prasidh joined in with three wickets to bundle it out for 120.

“Honestly, it was a good toss to lose, that’s what we said. We were also tending towards bowling, but they (the think-tank) were discussing putting a bat first,” Prasidh said.

Usually, Prasidh starts the proceedings for Karnataka with the new ball, but that did not happen on Friday as the team management decided to bring him into the attack later.

“Credit goes to Vidya and Vidwath for the way they started. That let me come in and get my time in to hold the line and understand what we want to do. It was a collective effort when all of us bowled well together,” he said, adding: “(Coming in later) just gives you that extra leeway to alter your line and length and that’s what we did. The catching also was very good…”
