England fast bowler Kate Cross loses central contract
England fast bowler Kate Cross has confirmed that she has lost her central contract for the upcoming season.
The veteran pacer confirmed on the BBC’s No Balls podcast that she had been informed her contract would not be renewed at the end of the season just before the start of The Hundred in August.
Cross had been the leader of England’s bowling attack since the retirement of Katherine Sciver-Brunt in 2023, but had recently experienced a downturn in fortunes at the international level.
She was left out of the England team after the first of its three ODIs against India in the summer, and has been excluded from England’s squad for the upcoming Women’s World Cup.

Cross has appeared in eight Tests, 76 ODIs, and 18 T20Is for England, taking 140 across the three formats.
After learning that she had lost her central contract, Cross was in action in The Hundred, where she finished as the tournament’s third-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets as her team, Northern Superchargers, won the tournament.
