ENG vs IND: Gill smashes another Kohli record, registers most runs by Indian captain in a Test
Shubman Gill overtook Virat Kohli’s record to register most runs by an Indian captain in a Test during the second match against England at Birmingham on Saturday.
Gill has crossed Kohli’s 293-run record he made against Sri Lanka in 2017, scoring 243 and 50 across two innings. The current Indian captain has scored 269 and is currently unbeaten on 25, making his match aggregate 294**.
During the first innings, Gill registered the highest individual score by an Indian captain, going past Kohli’s 254. His 269 is also the highest by an Indian batter in England, surpassing Sunil Gavaskar’s 221 at the Oval in 1979.
