Classic Q Seeks Another Win at Saratoga in Lake George
Gary Barber, Blue Crevalle Racing, and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ Classic Q looks for her second stakes win at Saratoga Race Course in the $175,000 Lake George Stakes (G3T) July 26. There are nine 3-year-old fillies entered in the body of the field, plus one main-track-only entrant.
The daughter of Classic Empire won the Wild Applause Stakes July 3 over the Chad Brown-trained duo of Play With Fire and Lavender Dreams. Brown has had great success in the 1 1/16-mile race, having sent out seven winners in the last 10 years.
Regular rider Jose Ortiz will be aboard the Mark Casse-trained filly on Saturday. Manny Franco has the mount for the Minnesota-bred Play With Fire, and Irad Ortiz will ride Peter Brant’s Lavender Dreams.
Trainer Rusty Arnold runs Calumet Farm’s homebred Daisy Flyer , most recently third in the Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park March 1. Jose Lezcano will ride the Mshawish filly.
Vicky Oliver will send out Princess Attitude , a daughter of Frankel for owner G. Watts Humphrey Jr. She was last seen finishing second to multiple graded stakes-placed Lush Lips in the Tepin Stakes at Churchill Downs June 28. Humphrey purchased the well-bred filly at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $400,000 via the St George Sales consignment. Kentucky Derby (G1)-winning jockey Junior Alvarado will be in the irons.
