BAN vs WI: Shamar Joseph ruled out of ODI series against Bangladesh
West Indies has confirmed that fast bowler Shamar Joseph has been ruled out of its ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh due to shoulder discomfort.
In a statement on X, the team confirmed that Joseph had experienced the discomfort during the training session ahead of the first ODI. Joseph did not play in the match, as West Indies unravelled against the leg-spin of Rishad Hossain as it fell to a 74-run defeat.
In the same statement, it was confirmed that left-arm pacer Jediah Blades has been ruled out of the series with a stress fracture to the lower back. Blades was named in West Indies’ squad for its recent Test series against India, but did not feature in either Test.
Joseph and Blades have been replaced in the squad by all-rounder Akeal Hossain and seamer Ramon Simmonds, both of whom played during West Indies’ surprise series defeat to Nepal.
