AUS vs IND: Nitish Kumar Reddy set to make ODI debut in series opener against Australia in Perth

India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will make his One-Day International debut in the series opener against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday.

Ahead of the match, Nitish received his cap from former India captain Rohit Sharma, who will return to international cricket after more than seven months.

Nitish’s 50-over debut was facilitated by the absence of India’s premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was ruled out of the series due to a quadricep injury he picked up during the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The 22-year-old Nitish has played nine Tests and four T20 Internationals for India. Interestingly, his Test debut also came at the Optus Stadium against Australia, in November last year. He followed up a 41-run knock in the first innings with an unbeaten 38 in the second essay, as India went on to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series opener by 295 runs.
