T20 World Cup 2026: Sri Lanka replaces injured Malinga with Madushan
Pramod Madushan has been named as the replacement for injured pacer Eshan Malinga in Sri Lanka’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the board announced on Friday.
Malinga was ruled out after sustaining a shoulder injury during a T20I against England on February 1.
Madushan, 32, is a medium-fast bowler who has played 13 ODIs and eight T20Is for Sri Lanka, taking 28 wickets across white-ball cricket. He last featured in a T20I for Sri Lanka in 2023.

Sri Lanka, the 2014 champion, is co-hosting the event along with India. The island nation is placed in Group B alongside Australia, Ireland, Oman and Zimbabwe. Led by Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka opens its campaign against Ireland on February 8 at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
