SMAT 2025-26 Round 7 wrap: Sudharsan slams century in Tamil Nadu’s win, Shami’s four-fer goes in vain
The group stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025-26 was completed on Monday with B Sai Sudharsan ending Tamil Nadu’s campaign with an emphatic, scoring an unbeaten century against Saurashtra ina Group D fixture in Ahmedabad.
Here is how Team India’s stars performed in the seventh round on Monday:
Sai Sudharsan – The Tamil Nadu opener smacked an unbeaten 101 off 55 balls not out to help his team chase down a 184-run target inside the 19th over. Sudharsan scored 10 fours and four sixes in his innings and got Tamil Nadu over the line with just three wickets remaining.
Ajinkya Rahane – The Mumbai opener helped the defending champion chase down a 168-run target against Odisha with ease, scoring an unbeaten 95 off 56 balls. His innings in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium included three sixes and nine fours.
Mohammed Shami – The Bengal pacer picked up four for 30 in his four overs to restrict Haryana to 191 for nine in the first innings. Despite his memorable spell, Haryana defeated Bengal by 24 runs. Bengal couldn’t qualify for the super league stage, finishing with just four wins in seven games.
