IND vs SA, 1st ODI: Rohit Sharma scores 57 runs against South Africa in record-breaking innings
Rohit Sharma scored 57 runs off 51 balls in the first ODI against South Africa at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday.
Rohit hit five fours and three sixes. During the innings, he smashed the record for the most sixes in ODI cricket, bettering Shahid Afridi’s haul of 351 sixes.
He was also involved in a 136-run second-wicket partnership with Virat Kohli, that put India in a commanding position. The home side was at 168 for two after 23 overs.
The former Indian captain was handed a reprieve early in his innings. He was batting on one run when he was shelled by Tony de Zorzi at deep square leg off Nandre Burger.
He made the most of the second life, getting to his 60th fifty in ODIs in just 43 balls. He was eventually nabbed leg before on 57 by Marco Jansen.
