Race 1. (11:45) Fernhill Mile 1600m

1 Tupakara (Bet Now: $3.50) is one of the key chances. She ran in the Baillieu last Tuesday at Rosehill. She got a fair way off the speed but kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat behind a potential star in Nepotism. Racing like 1600m suits and despite there being depth to this race, she’s hard to beat.
Danger
2 Polish Playgirl (Bet Now: $4.20) should appreciate getting to the mile after racing over 1400m at Flemington last start where she was held up at times before eventually getting clear and worked home with real purpose late. Stable has found form and she should be fine at the trip.
Long Shot
3 Garrix (Bet Now: $12.00) comes here with fresh legs for Chris Waller. having not raced since his debut on March 19 at Wyong over 1350m where he wasn’t 100% happy around the tight track but he was good late once balanced up. Tick over trial was strong, he’ll eat up the mile…in the mix.
Race 2. (12:20) South Pacific Classic 1400m

11 Meridiana (Bet Now: $5.00) is a filly I have had blackbooked since she trialled in November and went like a rocket there. Was spelled, returned and debuted on the Kenso over 1400m where she got better as the race went on to win impressively. I reckon John Sargent has QLD Oaks aspirations for her and her tick over trial was strong. Confident she can measure up.
Danger
1 Pisces (Bet Now: $21.00) should love the rise to 1400m after resuming three weeks ago over 1200m in the Darby Munro where the market said he wasn’t there to play and ran accordingly when down the track behind Autumn Glow. Fitter and up to 1400m, he has runs on the board to say he’s hard to beat.
Long Shot
2 Fearless (Bet Now: $21.00) should be an improver for Peter Snowden after resuming in the Darby Munro three weeks ago. He looked like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out. That said, he was far from disrgaced in defeat. Better set up here, his best is good enough.
Race 3. (12:55) Provincial-Midway Championships Final 1400m

1 Matcha Latte (Bet Now: $3.80) commands respect. He has done a really good job since joining Sara Ryan, the latest run seeing him lead throughout to win a Qualifier at Newcastle when leading throughout and was quite dominant late in the piece. He has class and usually, class stands up in this race.
Danger
2 Lord Of Biscay (Bet Now: $3.80) ran second in a Newcastle Qualifier on March 1, just missing out on the win in a blanket finish. He has been freshened up and his recent tick over trial was very good, so keen to see how he goes, especially in a fast run 1400m.
Long Shot
11 Rapt (Bet Now: $11.00) lacks the class of some of these, but it’s hard to knock how she’s racing. She gave them a start and a beating to win the Hawkesbury Qualifier, letting down with electric change up speed to win well. Tick over trial was strong and she’ll eat up 1400m.
Race 4. (13:30) Percy Sykes Stakes 1200m

I am quite keen on 5 Inkaruna (Bet Now: $4.80). She has been freshened up since the Reisling where she got back off the speed and worked home with real purpose late in the piece when third to Tempted, form which stood up big time in the Slipper. Her tick over trial was very, very sharp, she looks ready to rock and roll and will eat up the 1200m here.
Danger
2 Tempted (Bet Now: $3.10) has to be given serious respect. Pattern was in her corner yes, but you can make a case to say she wins the Slipper if she got clear air when Shinn was probing. She’s done little wrong in her short career to date and has the runs on the board to say she’s the one to beat.
Long Shot
4 Military Tycoon (Bet Now: $15.00) is in the mix. She was a sharp first up winner before going to the Slipper when outclassed on paper but was far from disgraced in defeat. She was only second up there so with room for upside/improvement, she’s in the mix as a threat.
Race 5. (14:05) Arrowfield 3Yo Sprint 1200m

I’ve said it many times but I do think 8 Autumn Glow (Bet Now: $1.50) is baby Winx. She’s the most exciting horse I’ve seen since the great mare retired and the way she moves, her action, her stride, the way she can put races away…it’s just something else. Yes, she’s better over further, but her first up win was arrogant, 1200m at Randwick looks perfect, she gets the weight pull being a filly…she is short, but for good reason. She’s very special.
Danger
2 Public Attention (Bet Now: $8.00) is a good sprinter when right. He hasn’t raced since The Kiwi over 1500m at Ellerslie when failing to run the trip out but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Damask Rose. Tick over trial last week was strong, like him back to 1200m…he runs well.
Long Shot
6 Big Swinger (Bet Now: $16.00) is one for exotics. He is a nice horse for Charlotte Littlefield that looked a moral when resuming at Pakenham and he didn’t give his supporters a moment of worry with a commanding performance. He is a nice horse, he’ll be strong at 1200m…first four contender.
Race 6. (14:40) Australian Oaks 2400m

2 Treasurethe Moment (Bet Now: $1.70) picks herself. Not sure she was 100% happy on the wet track in the Vinery last Tuesday but class got her home and she was dominant in the run to the line. Firmer footing, bigger track and 2400m, she’s clearly the one to beat. Well found, but for good reason. She is a star.
Danger
1 Leica Lucy (Bet Now: $4.60) is a star filly from NZ who has the 2400m run under the belt, that being the NZ Oaks. Yes, just a win on the eye, but she was used up to hold a forward spot, so I think that took something away from her finale. She’s a beauty and now has the Waller polish.
Long Shot
8 Miss Alexis (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is the place bet here. I thought she was excellent in the Adrian Knox, getting a fair way back in the run but I thought she worked home with real purpose late, clocking good late splits behind Belle Detelle. She has good upside, can settle closer and being out of Jameka, she’ll eat up 2400m.
Race 7. (15:15) Sydney Cup 3200m

The class of the field is 6 Zardozi (Bet Now: $7.50) and she is proven at two miles so she’s the way I am going. She brings the WFA form and comes through a brutally run Australian Cup where she was there to win but was just one paced in the straight. That said, she stayed on and was very good in defeat. Jamie did say post race the mare wants two miles hence why she is running here and tumbling to 53kg, I think she’ll give this an almighty shake.
Danger
8 Alalcance (Bet Now: $2.60) is the big threat and the one to beat on current form. She has been dominant her past two in the two key lead ups, the Manion and the Chairmans, leading throughout last Saturday in the latter and gave nothing else a look in. The query is 3200m, but if they leave her alone and she gets front end control, she takes running down.
Long Shot
18 Strathtay (Bet Now: $31.00) is sneaky flying for Chris Waller. He ran sixth in the Chairmans last Saturday and was one of the real eye catchers of the race, closing off with real purpose late against the race shape. He’s racing as if he’ll be fine at 3200m, he’s down in the weights and a drop of rain is ideal.
Race 8. (15:55) Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2000m

12 Via Sistina (Bet Now: $1.90) is on top, but I wouldn’t say she is a moral. Showed great fight to win the Verry Elleegant and then made a mess of them in the Ranvet. Arrogant win, but what did she exactly beat? Good horses, but no world beaters. I still think she will eat up the 2000m here at Randwick and win. But, I am not going to jump up and down, declaring her, because there is quality to this line up.
Danger
I think you have to give serious respect to 1 Dubai Honour (Bet Now: $6.50). I think he was kissed on the date with the ride/run in the Tancred but he was still an impressive winner and the numbers say he thrives in Australia vs most other countries. Back to 2000m is fine, there should be give in the track and will be stronger than most late.
Long Shot
The knockout for me is clearly 7 Buckaroo (Bet Now: $15.00). I thought he was excellent in the George Ryder, getting back, was wide, and worked home with real purpose late for a horse better suited over further. He might want further, more fitness, but he has the class/quality to run a beauty.
Race 9. (16:35) Queen Of The Turf Stakes 1600m

3 Atishu (Bet Now: $7.50) is back for redemption after last year, where she was given an all time slaughter by Shinn and should have won comfortably. She comes through the Australian Cup, a brutally run race, where she was as game as ever in defeat, but just didn’t quite see it out. Back to the mile, back to Mares grade, she’s the one for me.
Danger
1 Fangirl (Bet Now: $2.00) has to be given serious respect. She was enormous in the George Ryder, and was one of the runs of the day given she was wide no cover throughout yet kept finding, just missing out on the win. Brilliant set up here on paper and is the best horse in the race.
Long Shot
6 Grinzinger Belle (Bet Now: $14.00) did have the pattern in her corner when bolting up in the Sunline at The Valley but even allowing for that, she did run her rivals ragged and was strong to the line in winning. She’ll land on speed here and she is a mare who will just keep chipping away. One for exotics.
Race 10. (17:10) Sapphire Stakes 1200m

3 Olentia (Bet Now: $6.00) looks very well suited here. She comes through the Coolmore Classic where she ran out of her skin but the end of 1500m just saw her out when fourth to Lady Shenandoah. Back to 1200m, fresh legs, good trial since and the big key is mapping to stalk Estriella. Hard to beat.
Danger
5 Commemorative (Bet Now: $2.35) rates highly off the back of her effort in The Galaxy. She bombed the start but I really liked the way she closed her race off in defeat. Gate is tricky, but she only has to hold her form to be around the mark.
Long Shot
6 Coco Jamboo (Bet Now: $15.00) looks to be humming for Peter Snowden. She resumed three weeks ago in the Birthday Card at Rosehill where she was one of the better runs of the meeting given the pattern, working home with real purpose late in the piece behind Austmarr. Better set up here for her, she takes beating.
BEST BET: Race Five Number 8 Autumn Glow
NEXT BEST: Race Ten Number 3 Olentia
