Live streaming and telecast info

Cricket fans can follow the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule announcement live on broadcast and streaming platforms on Tuesday, 25 November from 6:30 PM IST onwards.

The event will be streamed live on JioHotstar, and televised across India on Star Sports 1, Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 3.

Format and tournament overview

The 2026 T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams following the same structure as the 2024 edition. Teams are divided into four groups of five, with each side playing every opponent once. The top two from each group will advance to the Super Eight stage, forming two groups of four. The top two from each Super Eight pool will progress to the semifinals, with the winners meeting in the final.

Key hosts and venues

India and Sri Lanka share hosting duties. As part of a mutual arrangement between the BCCI and PCB, Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka. Should Pakistan reach the final, that match will also be held in Sri Lanka instead of India.

Qualified Teams

Alongside hosts India and Sri Lanka, automatic qualification went to the top seven teams from the 2024 T20 World Cup:

Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, United States and West Indies.

Based on T20I rankings:

New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland secured qualification.

Through the global qualifying pathway:

Canada (Americas), Italy and Netherlands (Europe), Namibia and Zimbabwe (Africa), and Nepal, Oman and UAE (Asia/EAP).

This edition marks Italy’s first appearance at a T20 World Cup.

Defending champion

India enters the tournament as defending champion, having defeated South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final in Barbados.
