When was the last time India was enforced a follow-on at home?
South Africa is on the brink of enforcing the follow-on against India in the second Test at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Monday.
India, chasing South Africa’s first-innings total of 489, has already lost more than half its batting lineup and still trails by 370 runs.
If India is bowled out before reaching 289, the Proteas will have the option to make the hosts bat again. South Africa leads the two-match series 1-0, and a follow-on would put India under severe pressure with limited margin for recovery.
The last time India was asked to follow-on at home was in 2010, also against South Africa in Nagpur. In that Test, India was dismissed for 233 in reply to the visitor’s 558 for 6 declared, and eventually lost by an innings and six runs.

2) New Zealand in Mohali, 2003
