WATCH: Sydney Thunder left frustrated in WBBL clash vs Adelaide Strikers after controversial umpiring decision
It was a frustrating day at the office for the Sydney Thunder in their Women’s Big Bash League match against Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval on Friday after a controversial call by the umpires.
What happened?
The game was reduced to five overs each due to rain, with Adelaide Strikers batting first and posting a total of 45.
In reply, Sydney Thunder was 43-0 in 2.5 overs in the run chase and needed just three more runs to win with 13 balls left. However, it started drizzling again, and the umpires forced the players off the field, eventually calling off the match.
“With a minimum of 1 ball left to determine a result, the match has been abandoned due to rain. Devastated,” wrote Sydney Thunder on its official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle.
