Varun Chakaravarthy delivers most expensive spell by an Indian in T20 World Cups
Varun Chakaravarthy delivered the most expensive spell by an Indian in T20 World Cups, during the semifinal against England at the Wankhede on Thursday.
Varun conceded 64 runs from his four overs, taking just a solitary wicket against England to record his worst returns in a T20I game.
England batter Jacob Bethell took apart the Indian spinner, smashing 41 runs from 13 balls.
This is also the joint-second-most expensive spell by a bowler in T20 World Cups. Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya had also conceded 64 runs, against Pakistan in 2007.
Earlier in the tournament, USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar had given away 65 runs from four overs against India in the group stage.
