Tennis Gold Medalist Sathwika Sama Appointed As DSP in Telangana Police
Hyderabad, India: Former professional tennis player Sathwika Sama, 25, has successfully transitioned from the tennis courts to the civil services, securing a prestigious appointment as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Telangana State Police.
Sama earned this high-ranking position after demonstrating exceptional academic merit by topping the highly competitive TGPSC Group I Exams.
Her new career in law enforcement follows a successful athletic career. Sama is a celebrated sportsperson who won the Women’s Singles Gold Medal for India at the 2019 South Asian Games. On the professional circuit, she achieved a career-high WTA Singles Ranking of 809 in 2020. Beyond her on-court achievements, she was also known for her writing as a guest columnist at Indian Tennis Daily (ITD) for her column, ‘Sammy Speaks’. This remarkable achievement highlights Sama’s ability to excel at the highest level in both sports and civil administration.
