Suryavanshi scores rapid half-century for India vs Afghanistan in Under-19 World Cup semifinal

Vaibhav Suryavanshi blazed his way to a rapid half-century for India against Afghanistan in the semifinal of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 at the Harare Sports Club on Wednesday.

The 14-year-old reached the landmark in just 24 balls to give India a strong start in its chase of the 311-run target.

The opening batter smacked seven fours and three sixes, aggregating 44 runs in boundaries before reaching the 50-run mark.

Suryavanshi also scored brisk half-centuries against Bangladesh in the group stage and against Zimbabwe in their Super Six encounter.

Earlier, centuries from Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai helped Afghanistan Under-19 post a formidable 310/4 on the board. A solid opening partnership between Suryavanshi and Aaron George has helped India stay above the required run rate in the chase.
