Stuart Law lauds Zimbabwe for win vs Australia, seeks inspiration for Nepal for West Indies clash

Having worked with several associate and lower-ranked teams over the years, Law isn’t surprised by the way Zimbabwe defeated Australia in Colombo on Friday.
Zimbabwe’s 23-run win against Australia has spiced up the T20 World Cup, and Law believes the African side is far from being a minnow.
“Zimbabwe is a very, very good side. They have got a lot of bases covered. They’ve been playing a lot of cricket since they’ve come back into world cricket, and have got a lot of experience,” Law said.
“They have got a lot of knowledge on their side. And the Australians, they might have got it wrong at the toss (by winning the toss and bowling first), but you also can’t blame the toss, either and the decision.
“Zimbabwe just played better on the day, and that’s what we can do as well,” Law said, indicating that Nepal, the team he is currently coaching, should also take a cue from Zimbabwe’s performance in the remainder of the tournament.

Nepal nearly defeated England in the campaign-opener before suffering a defeat against Italy. But Law hopes to start afresh.
“We have upset the West Indies back in Sharjah. In the last World Cup, we nearly beat South Africa, losing by one run. So there are opportunities,” he said, adding with a smile.
“Maybe, we gave Zimbabwe an inspiration to go out and beat Australia after our game against England. It’s great for cricket. I love it when an underdog comes out on top…”
“I like the underdog tag. You’ve got a free shot, you’ve got nothing to lose, and everything to gain. So that’s obviously been (the idea for) Zimbabwe for the week,” he said.
Zimbabwe will play Ireland next.
