South Africa Test squad against India: Temba Bavuma returns as captain

Temba Bavuma will return to lead the 15-member South Africa squad for the two-match Test series against India starting November 14 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the cricket board announced on Monday.

“Bavuma returns to the side after missing the recent Pakistan Test series as he completes his recovery from a left calf strain,” Cricket South Africa stated.

The South Africa captain replaces David Bedingham in the squad that played in Pakistan recently and levelled the two-match series 1-1. Proteas have dropped spinner Prenelan Subrayen from the squad as the only other change.

He last featured in the Test squad the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June. Bavuma suffered an injury in September and missed the first Test series of the new WTC cycle.

After the first Test in Kolkata, the two sides will travel to Guwahati for the second Test, where the ACA Stadium will host its maiden Test match from 22 November.
