Operation Sindoor impact on IPL: PBKS vs MI match on May 11 shifted from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad

The IPL 2025 fixture between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally scheduled for May 11 in Dharamsala, has been relocated to Ahmedabad. Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed the change to Sportstar.

The decision comes amid heightened security concerns following the launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’ by the Indian armed forces on May 7. The operation targeted nine terrorist sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes were in response to the April 22 mass shooting in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, which left 26 civilians dead — the deadliest terror attack in India since 26/11.

As a precaution, several northern airports — including those in Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamsala, Amritsar, and Chandigarh — have been shut down until May 10. Civilian air travel to and from Dharamsala remains suspended.

Punjab Kings had designated Dharamsala as its home base for three matches this season — against Lucknow Super Giants (May 3), Delhi Capitals (May 8), and Mumbai Indians (May 11). The team secured a 37-run win over LSG in the first of those games.
