Maya Iyengar Makes Wimbledon Girls’ Singles Debut
London, UK – American junior tennis player Maya Iyengar has made her debut in the Wimbledon Girls’ Singles event this year, marking a significant step in her promising career. The 18-year-old, with a current ITF Junior ranking that places her among the top young talents, entered the main draw.
Iyengar’s appearance at Wimbledon follows a busy 2025 season in the junior circuit. She reached the doubles final of the ITF J500 Banana Bowl and also had a quarterfinal run in singles at that event. Earlier in the year, she also made her maiden professional tour final at an ITF W15 tournament in San Diego.
In her Wimbledon Girls’ Singles first-round match, Iyengar faced Nauhany Vitória Leme da Silva. Despite a valiant effort, she was defeated in three sets. Iyengar also competed in the Girls’ Doubles event, partnering with Neus Torner Sensano, where they lost in the first round.
While her Wimbledon debut may not have resulted in a deep run, the experience of competing on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is invaluable for a player of her age.
