Madhurima Sawant, Sonal Patil Score Upset Wins in Opening Round at Chatrapati Sambhajinagar Open Endurance $15,000 Women’s ITF Tennis Tournament

Chatrapati Sambhajinagar, April 1, 2026: Maharashtra girls Madhurima Sawant and Sonal Patil grabbed the spotlight with impressive upsets over seeded opponents in the opening round of the Chatrapati Sambhajinagar Open Endurance $15,000 Women’s ITF Tennis Tournament organized by EMMTC in association with Chatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation under the Auspices of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) gets underway at the Endurance-MSLTA Marathwada Tennis Centre (EMMTC) at Divisional Sports Complex Ch. Sambhajinagar.
Sonal Patil who finished finalist at Nagpur last week continued her good form as she registered a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory over fifth seed Anastasiya Kuparev of Germany in a contest lasting over two hours.
Wildcard Madhurima Sawant produced a notable upset as she outplayed eighth seed Emma Van Poppel from Netherland 6-3, 6-2 in a well-controlled match.
In another strong showing by Indian players, Qualifier Amodini Naik and Jennifer Luikham registered convincing straight-set wins to advance to the next round,l.
Other seeds progressed smoothly through their opening matches. Top seed Zhibek Kulambayeva registered a 6-3, 6-0 comfortable win over Danica Fernando, while second seeded Zeel Desai cruised past Pooja Ingale 6-1, 6-2. Sixth seed Ksenia Laskutova and fourth seed Elina Nepliy also advanced with ease.
