Maaya Rajeswaran’s Roland Garros Junior Qualifying Campaign Concludes
PARIS, France – May 29, 2025 – Indian junior tennis sensation Maaya Rajeswaran’s quest for a spot in the Roland Garros Girls’ Singles main draw came to an end today, as she fell in her qualifying match to Great Britain’s Brooke Black. Rajeswaran lost in straight sets, 2-6, 3-6.
The 15-year-old, who has been making headlines with her rapid ascent in the junior rankings, faced a tough challenge against Black. The British player demonstrated consistent play, breaking Rajeswaran’s serve at key moments to secure the victory.
Rajeswaran’s participation in the qualifying rounds was a testament to her recent success, including becoming the youngest player to break into the top 700 of the WTA rankings earlier this year after reaching the semifinals of the Mumbai Open. Her journey to Roland Garros itself was an uphill battle, as she received her visa just hours before her scheduled match after facing unexpected delays. Despite the challenging circumstances, Rajeswaran displayed immense resolve to compete on one of junior tennis’s biggest stages.
While disappointed with the loss, this experience at Roland Garros will undoubtedly serve as valuable exposure for the promising young Indian talent as she continues her development on the international circuit.
